Spray foam insulation solutions

Pole barns in Peachtree City face a specific set of conditions: hot, humid summers and cool, damp winters that affect both the building and anything stored inside it. Georgia Insulation provides pole barn insulation services designed to control temperature swings, limit condensation, and protect the structure and its contents year-round.

Without proper insulation, a pole barn’s interior temperature often mirrors the outdoor climate, which creates problems for equipment, livestock, and anyone trying to use the space as a workshop or storage area. Moisture buildup is another common issue, particularly in metal pole barns where condensation can form on interior surfaces.

We work with homeowners and business owners throughout Peachtree City and the surrounding area to address these challenges directly. Our approach focuses on matching the right insulation material and method to each building’s specific use, whether that’s equipment storage, a workshop, or housing for animals.

Where Spray Foam Can Be Installed

Spray foam insulation applies to nearly every structure on your property, from metal pole barns to detached garages and large commercial warehouses. We adjust our application method based on the surface, structure type, and intended use of the space.

🏠

Pole Barn Rooflines, Walls, and Doors

Pole barn rooflines take the brunt of temperature swings, which is why we prioritize this area first. Spray foam adheres directly to the metal roof deck, closing gaps where heat and moisture typically enter.

Walls benefit from the same closed-cell application, particularly around purlins and support posts where air gaps tend to form. We also treat door frames and overhead door tracks, since these areas are common sources of air leakage.

Here's where we typically focus application in a pole barn:

  • Roof deck: reduces condensation and heat transfer
  • Wall cavities: fills irregular gaps around framing
  • Door seals and frames: cuts down on drafts and pest entry
🏡

Garages, Attics, and Other Residential Spaces

Garages often go unfinished, leaving them exposed to outdoor temperatures that affect attached living spaces. We insulate garage ceilings and walls to create a buffer between this space and the rest of your home.

Attics are another priority area, especially where spray foam can be applied directly to roof rafters. This approach helps regulate temperature in the living space below without relying solely on traditional batt insulation.

We also work in crawl spaces, basements, and rim joists. These areas are frequently overlooked, yet they contribute significantly to a home's overall energy performance.

🏭

Workshops, Warehouses, and Commercial Buildings

Commercial buildings present different challenges due to their scale and the variety of equipment or inventory they house. We apply spray foam to warehouse walls and ceilings to maintain stable interior temperatures across large square footage.

Workshops benefit from insulation around equipment bays and exterior-facing walls, where temperature control affects both comfort and tool performance. We also address loading dock areas, which are common points of air infiltration in commercial settings.

For metal commercial buildings, closed-cell foam works well against corrugated panels, sealing seams that open and close with temperature changes throughout the year.

Benefits for Your Building

A properly insulated pole barn delivers measurable improvements in comfort, noise control, and moisture management. We outline the three areas where our clients notice the biggest difference below.

More Consistent Indoor Temperatures

Pole barns without insulation experience rapid temperature swings tied directly to outdoor conditions. Metal roofing and siding conduct heat quickly, so the interior can feel like an oven in summer and a freezer in winter.

We install insulation that slows this heat transfer, keeping indoor temperatures more stable throughout the day. This matters whether you’re storing equipment, running a workshop, or housing livestock.

A stable temperature range also reduces strain on any heating or cooling units you have installed. Your HVAC system won’t have to work as hard to compensate for heat loss or gain through the building envelope.

Gaps around framing, doors, and roof panels let air move freely in and out of an uninsulated structure. This airflow carries outdoor noise directly into the building, from traffic to weather to nearby equipment.

We seal these gaps as part of our insulation process, which cuts down on drafts and sound transmission at the same time. The result is a quieter interior that’s easier to work or spend time in.

This is particularly useful for buildings used as workshops, home offices, or gathering spaces. Reduced noise bleed also benefits neighbors if your pole barn sits close to a property line.

Yes. Condensation forms when warm, moist air contacts a cold metal surface, and pole barns are especially prone to this because of their metal roofing and siding.

We address this with a combination of insulation and vapor barriers that reduce the temperature differential causing moisture buildup. This lowers the risk of rust on metal components and reduces moisture exposure for anything stored inside.

Condensation control matters most in buildings with fluctuating humidity, such as those housing vehicles, hay, or equipment. Without it, trapped moisture can lead to mold growth and material degradation over time.

What Can Happen Without Adequate Insulation

An under-insulated pole barn costs you money and exposes the structure to damage you can’t always see until it’s severe. Two of the most common consequences we encounter in Peachtree City properties involve energy loss and moisture buildup.

Higher Heating and Cooling Demand

Without insulation, a pole barn has no barrier to slow heat transfer through the walls and roof. In summer, metal siding absorbs solar heat and radiates it directly into the interior, pushing indoor temperatures well above outdoor levels. In winter, warm air escapes just as fast as it’s generated.

This forces HVAC systems or space heaters to run longer and harder to maintain a usable temperature. We often see energy bills climb significantly for barns used as workshops, offices, or livestock housing. Equipment also wears out faster under this constant strain, which adds repair and replacement costs over time.

Moisture Concerns and Uncomfortable Workspaces

Georgia’s humidity creates condensation on uninsulated metal surfaces when warm, moist air meets a cold roof or wall panel. This moisture can drip onto stored equipment, inventory, or livestock below, leading to rust, mold growth, and material decay.

Over time, trapped moisture compromises wood framing and encourages mildew that affects air quality inside the structure. We’ve found that uninsulated barns are also simply harder to work in comfortably:

  • Temperature swings make extended tasks difficult
  • Humidity levels feel oppressive during warmer months
  • Cold surfaces in winter make hands-on work uncomfortable

These conditions reduce the barn’s usability for daily operations or storage needs.

Recommendations Based on Your Building's Use

We tailor pole barn insulation to how you use the space, considering its current use, temperature needs, moisture exposure, budget, and performance goals. This helps us recommend a solution specific to your building rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

From Assessment to Installation

Our process starts with an on-site evaluation of your pole barn and ends with a fully insulated structure ready for year-round use. Here’s what you can expect at each stage.

01 How Should You Prepare?

Before our team arrives, clear the interior of stored equipment, vehicles, or materials along the walls and ceiling areas where we’ll be working.

This gives us full access to the structure and speeds up the assessment.

We’ll check:

  • Framing condition – looking for rot, rust, or structural issues
  • Current insulation (if any) – condition and type
  • Moisture sources – gaps, leaks, or ventilation problems
  • Intended use – workshop, livestock shelter, storage, or commercial space

You should also note any temperature or condensation issues you’ve noticed, since this helps us recommend the right material and R-value for your specific building.

Once we’ve reviewed the assessment with you and confirmed a plan, our crew begins with air sealing to close gaps around doors, windows, and framing joints.

We then install the chosen insulation system, whether that’s spray foam, rigid foam panels, or a radiant barrier combination.

For metal pole barns, we pay close attention to the roof and wall panels where condensation tends to form. We apply insulation in sections, checking coverage and thickness as we go to meet the R-value we agreed on.

We clean up debris and materials at the end of each work session.

Most pole barn insulation projects take one to three days, depending on the size of the building and the material selected.

A small workshop or storage barn may only need a single day. Larger commercial pole barns, or buildings requiring extensive air sealing before insulation, can take longer.

We’ll give you a specific timeframe after the initial assessment, based on square footage and the scope of work involved.

Georgia Insulation saved the day and our house! Breanna promptly answered my call, which was at the end of the work day, and listened to me freak out about being down to the wire and in need of insulation. She jumped right on the request and worked diligently with Jason to get me on the schedule asap. We cannot thank them enough for saving us! The installers were kind, professional and early… who is early these days?! We were very impressed by Breanna, Jason, and the rest of the team at Georgia Insulation. Don’t hesitate to work with this company, they actually care about their clients and don’t over promise (unlike the company that blew us off a day before they were scheduled to Install because they over promised and under delivered). So again, if you need a super reliable and professional insulation company, reach out to Breanna at Georgia Insulation, and she will get you taken care of! Thanks again for helping us!!

I can say enough great things about the people and my experience with Georgia Insulation. Terra came out and gave a thorough evaluation and quote for open cell foam insulation for our home. The quote was reasonable, and for the amount of work to be done, I thought it was a great deal. Edwin and his crew were awesome and entertaining. They removed all of the existing insulation in the attic and completely covered the underside of the roof with open cell foam. I’ve waited about 2 months to write this review, as I wanted to share energy savings. Last month bill was $106 less than the previous year, same month. The part about that blew me away, was last years June was a very mild June and this June has been quite hot. That being said, I feel very confident I will see a return on my investment. I highly recommend Georgia Insulation and Terra Schaefer and team.

Ga insulation came to my home and insulated with close cell foam underneath my floor. Techs needed a second access to get to 2 bedrooms which I was not able to provide while they were here . The room temperatures were at 73 where they had sprayed and where they didn’t was at 59! I am excited that they are returning to finish now that I have the access they needed . The workers were excellent and very professional. This made such a difference in my heating now that the heat shuts off when needed to! Georgia Insulation is a top notch company providing a great service for a very fair price! My best decision ever!

Frequently Asked Questions

Material choice, cost, R-value targets, and timelines vary based on your pole barn’s size, use, and climate exposure in Peachtree City. We answer the questions we hear most often from homeowners and business owners below.

What insulation works best for a pole barn?

Spray foam, reflective radiant barriers, and fiberglass batts each serve different purposes depending on your building’s use.

We typically recommend spray foam for pole barns used as workshops or living spaces, since it seals gaps and controls moisture in one step. For storage buildings with lighter climate control needs, a reflective barrier paired with batt insulation often provides adequate performance at a lower cost.

Costs depend on the insulation type, wall height, and roof pitch of your structure. Spray foam installations for a building this size generally run higher upfront than batt or reflective options, but we factor in your specific layout before providing a quote.

We assess square footage, ceiling height, and any existing vapor barriers during our on-site evaluation. This allows us to give you an accurate estimate rather than a generic range.

Yes, spray foam adheres well to both metal and wood-framed pole barn surfaces. It expands to fill gaps around purlins and girts, reducing air infiltration points that other materials can miss.

We apply closed-cell spray foam on roofs and walls where moisture control is a priority. This works particularly well in Georgia’s humid climate, where condensation buildup on metal roofing is common.

We generally recommend an R-value between R-13 and R-21 for walls, depending on the building’s intended use. Roofs often benefit from a higher R-value, typically R-19 to R-30, since heat gain through metal roofing is more pronounced in Georgia’s climate.

Buildings used for livestock or storage may need less insulation than those converted into workshops or offices.

Yes, properly installed insulation reduces the temperature difference between interior air and the metal surface, which is what causes condensation to form. Spray foam and vapor barriers work together to stop moisture from collecting on the underside of roofing and walls.

We’ve seen this issue cause rust and mold in pole barns that lack a vapor barrier. Addressing it early prevents damage to stored equipment or materials.

Most pole barn insulation projects take one to three days, depending on square footage and material type. Spray foam applications tend to move faster than batt installations, since we can cover large wall and ceiling sections in a single session.

We schedule your project based on building size and complexity during the initial consultation. Weather conditions can occasionally affect our timeline for exterior-facing work.
