Improve Comfort and Energy Control

If you run a business in Woodstock or nearby areas, an uninsulated metal building can make indoor temperatures harder to manage and allow condensation to form. Georgia Insulation provides commercial metal building insulation, including spray foam, to help address these issues.

Spray foam can insulate metal roofs, walls, and other building surfaces, helping reduce heat transfer and limit condensation. We’ll explain where it can be applied, the benefits and risks to consider, and how our team approaches a project, so you can make an informed decision for your building.

Where Spray Foam Is Applied in Commercial Metal Buildings

Spray foam can insulate roof decks, wall assemblies, and openings where air leaks are common. We assess each area and the building’s use to determine suitable coverage and foam type.

🏢

Roof Decks and Ceilings

Metal roof panels can become hot in summer and cold in winter, while humid indoor air can condense on cooler surfaces. We apply spray foam to the underside of the roof deck to limit heat transfer and reduce air movement through panel seams and around purlins.

The roof assembly needs the right foam type and thickness for the building’s design, ventilation, and moisture-control requirements. We check for leaks, corrosion, and existing damage before installation, and account for lighting, wiring, and ceiling equipment to maintain access for future maintenance.

Exterior Walls and Wall Cavities

We apply spray foam to the inside face of exterior metal panels and around girts, framing, and other transitions. This helps reduce drafts and temperature swings in warehouses, workshops, and commercial storage spaces while limiting gaps where humid air can reach cooler metal surfaces.

Before work begins, we inspect wall panels and cavities for water intrusion, rust, and obstructions. We plan coverage around windows, utility lines, electrical components, and areas requiring continued access. Foam type and thickness depend on the wall assembly, local code requirements, and the building’s intended use.

Doors, Gaps, and Hard-to-Seal Areas

Large roll-up doors, personnel doors, panel joints, and utility penetrations can allow outside air to enter. We use spray foam in suitable gaps and transitions to improve air-barrier continuity while keeping tracks, hinges, and other moving hardware clear.

We also check corners, roof-to-wall connections, and pipe or cable openings where irregular shapes make insulation work more demanding. We protect equipment and surfaces before application, then verify that doors and access points function as intended after installation.

Benefits for Business Owners

Properly installed insulation helps stabilize indoor temperatures and limit air and moisture movement through a metal building’s envelope. These improvements can support more predictable operating conditions and help protect equipment, inventory, and work areas.

More Consistent Indoor Temperatures

Metal panels transfer heat quickly, which can make indoor temperatures shift with outdoor conditions. We install insulation suited to the building’s structure and use, helping reduce heat transfer through walls and roof panels. That can make it easier to maintain workable conditions in offices, production areas, and storage spaces.

More stable temperatures can also reduce the workload on heating and cooling equipment during extreme weather. Your business may see lower energy use, depending on the building’s design, insulation coverage, and HVAC operation. We assess these factors before recommending materials and installation details.

Reduced Air Leakage and Condensation

Gaps at panel joints, fasteners, doors, and other transitions can allow outside air to enter and conditioned air to escape. We identify these areas and select an insulation approach that helps limit air leakage, supporting steadier indoor conditions and more efficient HVAC operation.

Warm, humid indoor air can condense when it reaches cold metal surfaces. Insulation installed with appropriate air and vapor control can reduce the conditions that lead to condensation. This helps lower moisture risks for stored goods, equipment, and building components. We consider the building’s ventilation, indoor activities, and local conditions when planning the installation.

Risks of Leaving a Metal Building Uninsulated

Without insulation, metal walls and roofs transfer outdoor heat and cold indoors quickly. That can increase heating and cooling demands, allow condensation to form, and make work areas less comfortable.

Higher Heating and Cooling Demands

Uninsulated metal surfaces let heat move readily between the outdoors and the building. In summer, sunlight can warm the roof and raise indoor temperatures; in winter, heat from the interior escapes through the walls and roof. HVAC equipment may need to run longer to maintain set temperatures, increasing energy use and making operating costs harder to control.

We assess the building’s use, construction, and local conditions before recommending an insulation system. Properly installed insulation can slow heat transfer and help the HVAC system maintain more consistent temperatures. Air sealing also matters, since gaps around doors, roof lines, and penetrations can let conditioned air escape.

Warm, humid indoor air can condense on cool metal surfaces when it reaches its dew point. Repeated condensation can leave water on framing, stored materials, or equipment, and persistent moisture can contribute to corrosion. The risk depends on the building’s climate, ventilation, and indoor activities.

Temperature swings and damp surfaces can also make work areas uncomfortable for employees and create challenges for businesses storing temperature-sensitive goods. We consider moisture control alongside insulation, including air sealing and ventilation needs. The right system helps limit condensation while supporting more stable indoor conditions.

Installation Process and Project Questions

A successful metal building insulation project starts with checking the building’s structure, moisture conditions, and use. We plan the work around the selected insulation system, site access, and your operating schedule.

01 Site Assessment and Installation Plan

We inspect the roof and wall assemblies, framing, existing insulation, and areas where air or moisture enters. We also ask how the building is used, whether it has heating or cooling, and which spaces need the most temperature control.

These details help us recommend a suitable approach, such as spray foam for selected roof or wall surfaces. Before work begins, we outline the areas to be insulated, surface preparation, access requirements, and expected work sequence. We also flag conditions that need attention, such as leaks or damaged panels, because insulation should not cover unresolved moisture problems.

Before applying insulation, we protect equipment and nearby work areas, confirm safe access, and prepare surfaces according to the chosen system’s requirements. For spray foam, surfaces must be suitable for adhesion, and the application area needs appropriate ventilation and access controls.

We apply insulation to the agreed roof, wall, or other building areas, following product specifications for coverage and thickness. After application, we review the work for missed sections, uneven coverage, and visible gaps. We also discuss any project-specific curing or re-entry instructions so your team knows when it is appropriate to use the treated space.

Some projects can proceed while parts of a business remain open. The amount of disruption depends on the work area, equipment access, ventilation needs, and the insulation system being installed.

We coordinate with you to identify active work zones and schedule access around deliveries, staff movement, or production needs. Spray foam application requires controlled access to the application area during installation and for the period specified by the product and safety requirements. If the work affects a critical area, we can discuss phasing the project so your team can plan around each zone.

Project duration depends on the building’s size, the number of roof and wall areas, site conditions, and preparation needs. A clear, accessible space with no repairs required can take less time than a building with existing insulation, leaks, or restricted access.

During the assessment, we review the scope and provide a project schedule based on the work involved. Weather, surface conditions, and coordination with other trades can affect timing, especially on retrofit projects. We confirm access needs and work areas with you before

Georgia Insulation saved the day and our house! Breanna promptly answered my call, which was at the end of the work day, and listened to me freak out about being down to the wire and in need of insulation. She jumped right on the request and worked diligently with Jason to get me on the schedule asap. We cannot thank them enough for saving us! The installers were kind, professional and early… who is early these days?! We were very impressed by Breanna, Jason, and the rest of the team at Georgia Insulation. Don’t hesitate to work with this company, they actually care about their clients and don’t over promise (unlike the company that blew us off a day before they were scheduled to Install because they over promised and under delivered). So again, if you need a super reliable and professional insulation company, reach out to Breanna at Georgia Insulation, and she will get you taken care of! Thanks again for helping us!!

I can say enough great things about the people and my experience with Georgia Insulation. Terra came out and gave a thorough evaluation and quote for open cell foam insulation for our home. The quote was reasonable, and for the amount of work to be done, I thought it was a great deal. Edwin and his crew were awesome and entertaining. They removed all of the existing insulation in the attic and completely covered the underside of the roof with open cell foam. I’ve waited about 2 months to write this review, as I wanted to share energy savings. Last month bill was $106 less than the previous year, same month. The part about that blew me away, was last years June was a very mild June and this June has been quite hot. That being said, I feel very confident I will see a return on my investment. I highly recommend Georgia Insulation and Terra Schaefer and team.

Ga insulation came to my home and insulated with close cell foam underneath my floor. Techs needed a second access to get to 2 bedrooms which I was not able to provide while they were here . The room temperatures were at 73 where they had sprayed and where they didn’t was at 59! I am excited that they are returning to finish now that I have the access they needed . The workers were excellent and very professional. This made such a difference in my heating now that the heat shuts off when needed to! Georgia Insulation is a top notch company providing a great service for a very fair price! My best decision ever!
